For the first time ever, the annual figures for road deaths in the UK have dropped below 2000. The 2010 figures released last week show that 1,857 deaths resulted from collisions on UK roads.

Whilst every death is a tragedy, equally every life saved is a success story.

Many factors have contributed to this reduction in loss. A significant factor is the increased level of training that business drivers are now undertaking.

Cardinus records clearly indicate that all of those organisations whose drivers have undertaken additional in-depth driver training since passing the simple basic driving test, have seen noticeable and sometimes dramatic improvements in collision numbers for all types of incidents, not just those resulting in deaths and serious injury.
