What’s the most susceptible component in your vehicle?

With fuel prices around £35 a litre in many areas and likely to rise further it’s not difficult to see why manufacturers spend so much time and effort on fine tuning fuel use – gearshift recommendation, low rolling resistance, brake energy regeneration, and even hybrid technology for example, will all improve a vehicle’s fuel and environmental capabilities.

Whilst each element individually contributes to a slight difference, the cumulative effect is worthwhile and it shows - compared with the abilities of vehicles of only 10 years ago.

However, if such improvements are not matched by a driver who really understands the benefits and how to use them advantageously, or simply drives regardless of them, the benefits will be far outweighed by poor driving techniques.

All of our studies show that drivers who take a moderate interest in improving their driving techniques can return significant savings. For drivers who are prepared to fully understand,  apply their knowledge effectively and put it into practise daily, the rewards can be significant.

There is even a double benefit in that a well driven vehicle will show much lower brake and tyre wear patterns – the payback is worth the effort, to say nothing of reduced incident claims history.

With current fuel costs, can you afford NOT to investigate further?
