Each year organisations are placing increasing emphasis on the management of environment, health and safety. Despite this, training continues to focus on activities at workplace level.
While operational management is still a key part of their activities, many EHS managers are now required to advise their boards and assist in integrating the topic in to the organisation’s overall business planning.
The ‘Leadership for Health and Safety Practitioners’ training programme has been developed in association with the Royal Mail Group and is now endorsed by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
This exciting four-day course will help each delegate to:
- Recognise how environmental, health and safety relates to the overall activities of the business
- Understand the business planning process and how environment, health and safety can be integrated
- Be actively involved in the management of change, where it may affect EHS
- Influence stakeholders, both senior and junior to themselves within the organisation
- Take a structured approach to problem solving and decision making
- Develop action plans to implement EHS solutions at corporate level
Barry Holt, Head of Health & Safety Consultancy at Cardinus Risk Management, commented, “You simply can’t underestimate the impact on a business of strong safety leadership, and how first-class communication of the safety message at all levels can make an immense difference to the attitude and culture within that business.”
He went on to say: “If we are to succeed in integrating health and safety into the way an organisation functions, it is essential that the safety professional understands what drives the business. Only then can they effectively influence the senior management. Following this course, delegates all felt that they had gained understanding and skills which would equip them to achieve this."
